Moon and Sun Baby Room Decoration
Creating a special baby room decoration for the new arrival is a way to mark the occasion. Parents, friends and older siblings alike can make this to add something special for the baby, or it can just be a fun gift. The best part of this little craft is that it is actually upcycled!
If you’ve ever had a stack of old scratched CD’s or DVD’s that you didn’t know what to do with, then this is a great choice for putting them to use. Being able to find a use for them that is fun, adds beauty to a room, and is super creative is my goal. This little baby nursery decoration idea was a great solution and came together in just minutes!
How Can I Hang These from the Ceiling?
When you want to hang these from the ceiling you will want to make sure they are secured well. While tape will work, eventually the tape will loosen and it will fall down. This is still a good option if you do not plan to have the decoration hanging for long, however, my method seems to work the best.
Using a screwdriver or a craft knife, pierce a hole in the top of the sun or moon then string with fishing line, ribbon, or twine. Then all you have to do is hang it from the ceiling or wall. You can also hang them against a flat surface like a wall by adding double sided table, thumb tacks, or even a Command strip to the wall.
These can go anywhere you want them to in your home, in the nursery, for a party, or tuck them into a box with a note of love and congratulations for new parents.
Can I Make These Glow in the Dark?
I love how beautiful the sun and the moon look in a baby’s room. I think it will look really neat when the moon glows in the dark. You could make the sun glow too but the moon should be able to be seen in the dark, when the sun is asleep, as most children say.
There are a lot of materials on the market that you can use to make the moon glow. There are powders and sprays that make it extremely easy to make this moon glow. You may even be able to use a glow in the dark foam paper if it is available in your craft store.
Another fun option would be to add the glow in the dark stickers around them on the wall or ceiling so when the room is darkened, the entire space lights up. Glow in the dark just makes them more fun to add to a kids room.
What Ways Can These be Used?
Obviously, I love them as a fun decoration to add into a child’s bedroom or nursery. That doesn’t mean they have to go there. They could be used anywhere in your home. Perhaps an office along with posters from outer space. Maybe they can hang in a window as a sun catcher style decoration. You could even add them to party decorations for things like birthday parties, holiday parties, or special events.
Have fun with these! Get creative and think outside the box. Add them to the outside of an actual gift box as a decoration or add as place holders on a dinner table with names written onto the middle of the sun or moon. The possibilities are truly endless.
