Hot Spinach Dip

Spinach dip is one of my favorite appetizers! I love making this for any event, but especially around the holidays when all of my friends and family come over.

We share snacks like this, little sandwiches, and desserts and have fun playing games or watching movies. I think, not only is it delicious, but every time I eat this it makes me think of family. That makes it even better!

If you are making this for a party, you should also make this easy buffalo chicken dip recipe, my soft pretzel bites, or the pull-apart pepperoni pizza knots to add to the appetizer buffet!

Can I Use Fresh Spinach?

I use frozen spinach when I make this dip because it is something I can keep in the freezer at all times. If you prefer, you can definitely use fresh spinach, just know that it cooks down considerably, so you will need a lot of fresh spinach to cook down to the same amount of the cooked frozen spinach.

What Should I Serve To Dip This With?

This is such a great option to serve with a variety of things. I like to toast layers of phyllo dough for a light option for dipping. You could also cut pizza dough into strips and cook to make breadsticks like shown.

I also offer a variety of tortilla chips, corn chips, and crackers for dipping. My favorite crackers are the olive oil and cracked pepper variety, or even just a simple garden vegetable flavored cracker.

You can always include rice crackers, oat crackers, and even some vegetable sticks like carrots or celery for dipping as well. Mix up your options so everyone will have something they prefer.

Can I Add Other Vegetables to the Dip?

Yes! I have often mixed in other vegetables for texture or crunch. Artichoke hearts are very common additions to a spinach dip recipe, and if you wish, they are easy to add to the mix.

Bits of carrot or diced red or green pepper are other great options to add to this hot spinach dip.

Does This Spinach Dip Freeze Well?

Yes! If you have leftovers and know you won’t be able to eat them all fast enough, you can simply scoop them into a freezer storage container that has been dated and labeled. Pop into the freezer until ready to enjoy it again.

When ready, remove from the freezer and thaw overnight then reheat in the oven or on the stovetop before serving. This dip is good for up to 3 months in the freezer.
