I am in love with these adorable popsicle stick Easter bookmarks! What a fun idea to make with your little ones. I love anything that encourages my boys to read more, and having a fun bookmark is always a hit. Add these cute little craft stick bunnies and chicks to your Easter crafting plans with your kids!

Popsicle Stick Easter Bookmarks

Craft sticks are always in my craft stash. In fact, I’ve been known to buy craft sticks in boxes of over 1,000 at a time. I use them that often. So, when it was time to make another Easter craft with the kids, I grabbed those first. Obviously, craft sticks are the base of many great ideas, and this one may just be one of my favorites.

You can make bookmarks from a lot of different items, but this is probably the most common and my go-to. They are just the right size, inexpensive, and super versatile. TO make these little bunnies and chicks, it took just a few steps and not much more time.

If you are wondering about how good this would be to make with kids – this is ideal! It’s super easy to set your kids up with a few supplies and let them loose to make these cute creatures to add to their Easter craft list. Of course, you could also just as easily make them on your own and slip them inside a new book to tuck into their Easter baskets. If you are loading up homemade Easter baskets, make sure to add some of these great Easter printables to them as well!

What Other Animals Can I Turn Into Bookmarks?

I’ve only made bunnies and chicks with this method, but you can really get creative making bookmarks. I imagine these could easily be turned into snakes, frogs, elephants, lizards, or even cats and dogs.

If you want to focus on Easter, you could also turn these into flower bookmarks or egg bookmarks. I’d even think you could cut and glue a small basket on the top if you wanted. Grab some stickers or print and color in a pattern you found online, and you can then glue that to cardstock or craft paper to glue to your craft stick.

Get creative and think outside the box to add a few more fun and unique ideas to your kid’s Easter baskets this year.

Your kids might also enjoy making these plastic spoon Easter bunnies and chicks. You can make Easter bunny ears out of straws as well, but my favorite are these little cotton swab sheep.

Tips for Painting Craft Sticks

Painting craft sticks can be a really messy event. We’ve ruined a few shirts in the past in the process of making something with painted craft sticks. So, I have a few tips to help make the process a bit easier for you to manage.

1. Buy craft sticks that have already been dyed to save time and effort.
2. Use spray paint instead of acrylic craft paint to color multiple sticks at a time.
3. Lay the craft sticks out on newspaper and paint one side of all you will be using, step away and let them dry completely, then come back and paint the other side. This keeps most of the paint off your hands!
4. Wear a paint smock and just have fun not caring about how messy you get in the process!

Supplies Needed

How to Make Popsicle Stick Bookmarks for Easter

Begin by drawing a bunny head shape on white craft paper.

Cut out the bunny head and set aside.

Now, you will draw and cut out small pink ear shapes and a small pink nose to go on the bunny head.

Glue the ears and nose in place.

Now, you will add googly eyes.

Then, you will draw on a smile and some dots for whiskers.

Glue the head to the top of a craft stick.

Twist your white pipe cleaner in half and then wrap around the craft stick just below the head and twist on sides to make arms.

Now your bunny bookmark is done.

Draw a circle on the yellow paper and cut out.

Cut a small orange beak from the craft paper.

Glue the googly eyes and beak onto the yellow circle to create the chicken head.

Now, you will glue the head onto the yellow craft stick.

Twist your yellow pipe cleaner in half and then wrap it around the craft stick just below the chicken head and twist on sides to make arms.

Now you have a chicken bookmark for Easter!

Crafter’s Tip

If you want to really make these special, you can buy fun little wooden animal cutouts to use instead of the paper heads. I found cut little wooden elephants, giraffe’s, and even cute little wooden owl’s. They are already painted, inexpensive, and make great addition to create extra fun bookmarks.
