What Yarn Should I Use For This Necklace?
For this project, I used a nice thick cotton yarn. You can use any basic yarn, but this soft jersey fabric style yarn is nicer for using in a fashion piece. Alternately, you could pick up lace, ribbon, or a combination.
I’ve even cut my own strips of fabric to weave together for a project like this. It doesn’t have to be exactly like what is shown. You can use any material you want for this. Just make sure that it can be knitted together easily.

Can I Add Flowers or Beads?
Yes! Depending on what you want to add as an embellishment, you may be able to naturally weave it into the design. Beads are often easy to thread onto the yarn as you knit.
If you are wanting to add some artificial flowers or ribbons, those are easier to do with glue or sewing in place after you’ve completed the necklace.
Feel free to add accents to this that you prefer. There are tons of ways to really personalize this finger knit project to fit your personality, but also your own unique wardrobe.

Supplies Needed
How to Make a Finger Knit Necklace
Start by wrapping the yarn over the palm of your hand, and weaving it back and forth once through your fingers as shown.
Continue weaving the yarn back and forth between your fingers
As you weave back and forth, every second time across your fingers, you will move the yarn over the top of the finger leaving the brad behind the palm of your hand.
Move the yarn over each finger as you go.
When you turn over your hand, you’ll see that you have created a pattern.
Continue this moving the yarn off your hand creating a rope of yarn until it is as long as you desire.
When you get to the end of your necklace, you will loop each finger over the one next to it to tighten and pull taught before tying.
When it reaches the length you want, tie off each end, and leave a length of yarn on both sides to use to tie this behind your neck to wear.
Crafters Tips
Another great solution for yarn to make this necklace is to cut strips of t-shirts that you no longer need or wear. There are tons of soft fabrics in various colors that can easily be used to make this necklace. I love repurposing anything I can, so this is a perfect choice.
If you want to make several of these necklaces and ensure they are a bit dressier, I recommend investing in this multi-colored lace yarn. It’s so beautiful and works wonderfully for things like this project.
